Luncheon

Today my boyfriend and I catered to a luncheon at a parsonage. We designed the menu and everything! It was very tiring to set up all the ingredients (we finished at 3 am), but everything turned out amazing.

I got new knives for this catering occasion.

The neighbors brought over their home grown vegetables, which was very nice of them.

Dinner with Family

Tonight all my friends and family came over and we ended up making a sooki yaki. It really is great that everyone can make time in their busy schedules to come over for dinner on a Sunday night.

We decided on a seafood sooki yaki because a lot of my friends don't eat meat for heath and ethical reasons. We also had a spicy green bean salad and papaya salad.

I know that I haven't been good with uploading posts, but I promise to post more often.

Thoughtful gift...

This week my friend surprised me with her homegrown chili peppers. Since she knew I love cooking spicy food, this was such a thoughtful gift from her! Their color was so vivid and bright, you could definitely tell that they were organic.

I'll be uploading more recipes and pictures of food later tonight.

Last Days of Summer

Today was quite a hot day, so I decided to make food fit for a summer-y day. I decided to make a spicy shrimp Tom Yum noodle soup and a sweet and sour vegetable saute with shrimp. It made the heat more bearable. Phew! Hopefully fall weather will settle in soon and I can start to make more and more comfort food.

The Shrimp Tom Yom Soup.

Ingredients for the Sauteed Vegetables.

Ingredients:

-Cabbage
-Cucumber
-Tomato
-Ground Pork
-Shrimp
-Ketchup
-Sugar
-Soy Sauce

Instructions:
Its quite easy. Heat the pan and add either vegetable or olive oil. Then add the ground pork and shrimp and let it cook. Then add all the vegetables together.  Mix everything together. Then add 2 tablespoons of Ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Soy Sauce and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Mix everything together again. Taste. It should taste a mostly sweet and have an after taste of sour. (Thats how you know it's perfect). Then serve.

Its an easy quick dish for a hazy, hot summer day. I'm looking forward to fall. Talk to you soon!!

Happy Cooking.

Lemon Grass Fish Soup

I went to my friend and fellow blogger, Bell's house to sit down and have dinner with her and her family. We decided to have Lemongrass Fish Soup with rice. We also made sauteed vegetables and pork spared ribs. It was so nice to make food with people I consider family, it made the food more special to eat. Everyone enjoyed the food and I have to say, we ate more than we should have.

Bell has a fig tree in her backyard, so we decided to munch on a few figs while we waited for all the food to cook.
